Materials & Supply Chain
Nothing to hide.
We think you deserve to know exactly what you're wearing and where it comes from. So here it is.
The fabric
Organic Brushed French Terry. Why this, and nothing else.
We looked at a lot of fabrics. We flew in swatches from across Europe and put each one through iterations of fit, feel, and construction.
100% Organic Cotton Brushed French Terry at 500 GSM was the only one that passed every test. Here's what that actually means:
100% Organic Cotton
Grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. GOTS-standard cotton means what touches your skin has never touched a chemical it shouldn't have.
Brushed French Terry construction
A looped interior that's been brushed to create a soft, matte finish. Softer than regular terry, more structured than fleece.
500 GSM
Grams per square meter — the measure of fabric weight. Most "premium" sweatshirts sit at 280–350 GSM. Ours is 500. You feel the difference the moment you pick it up.
Why it matters
Synthetic vs. natural — the real difference.

Supply chain
From field to finished garment.
We're not going to give you a vague "ethically sourced" claim and leave it there. Here's the actual journey of every Auterra piece.
Organic cotton farming
Grown under certified organic standards — no synthetic pesticides, no GMO seeds, no chemical fertilizers. The cotton used in our fabric meets GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) requirements.
GOTS standardFabric milling
The cotton is spun, knitted, and brushed into our 500 GSM French Terry fabric. We selected this fabric from a shortlist of European mills.
EuropeGarment manufacturing — Portugal
Every auterra piece is cut and sewn in Portugal. We chose Portugal deliberately: it has one of Europe's strongest traditions of premium garment manufacturing, with strict labor standards and generational craft knowledge.
Made in PortugalQuality control & limited run
The first drop is limited. Small batches mean we can inspect every piece before it ships. We'd rather make fewer things well.
